Date was a formidable golfer and also a doctor
Within a year of picking up the game in his mid-forties, Dr. Date’s handicap was in the single digits. He went on to represent India as a member of the senior team from 2005 to 2012 and was part of the team that won bronze in 2010 at Bangkok. He was so dedicated to the game that he would leave home at 6 a.m. to practise for four hours before going to the hospital to see his patients.
He will be remembered for his illustrious senior golf career and his love and dedication for the game.

Dr. V.T. Date, a well known Pune golfer and winner of the National Seniors in 2007 in Kolkata and 2008 in Pune, succumbed to cardiac issues recently. The golfing community remembers him for his always enthusiastic, cheerful personality and a great lover of golf and sports in general.
