While 2021 ended on a positive note with a flurry of professional, national amateur, junior and corporate events being conducted across the country, sadly 2022 has begun with postponements all around as Omicron causes a scare again.

While a number of local club leagues and other domestic events can get rescheduled, the big question is whether the US$ 2 million Hero Indian Open scheduled for end February can go ahead. If not, finding an alternative date later in the year will not be easy for the busy European tour. The same goes for the Delhi Golf Club Open, a new US$500,000 event on the Asian Tour scheduled for end March. Hopefully the current surge will pass by the end of January allowing these two prestigious and important events to go ahead.

Our series of articles drawing attention to fitness as the new mantra,  continues. Our past two editions talked about the fittest players on the PGA and LPGA Tours and now we focus on the Champions Tour, where fitness perhaps is more important than ever.

Meanwhile, we hope our readers will take all precautions while visiting their favourite golf courses and stay safe. We pray courses remain open as golf remains one of the safest activities due to the distancing between players in large open spaces. The health benefits of golf remain positive as ever and we hope readers are able to enjoy the best months of India’s golfing season coming up.

Happy Golfing !
