Sahith Theegala, the Indian Californian who has been in the reckoning for rookie of the year honours on the 2022 PGA Tour advanced to the final event in the Fedex Cup playoffs and will be eligible for the top prize of Rs 144 crore after shooting 72-68-69-68 (7-under 277) to finish tied-15th at the US$ 15mn BMW Championship at Wilmington Country Club in Delaware.
One year ago this week Sahith Theegala flew to Boise Idaho for the 1st KFT finals event. When his plane took he wasn’t even guaranteed a spot in the field. During his layover he found out he was officially in.
He just locked up a spot in the Masters and the Tour Championship.

Theegala played his last seven holes on Sunday in 4-under par in the final round to jump to 28th on the FedEx Cup Standings and secure his spot among the top 30 who advanced to the lucrative 2022 TOUR Championship and guarantee him a hefty bonus to add to the US$3 million he is looking at in 2022 season earnings. 30th place at the Tour Championship gets a guaranteed US$500,000 bonus (Rs 4 crore approx) while the winner takes home a whopping US$18 million (Rs 144 crore approx).

Theegala, the 2019-20 US College Player of the Year, is finally starting to perform to his potential this season. His parents hail from India and Sahith was born and raised in California.
