The Government of Meghalaya and the North East Olympic Association (NEOA) hosted the 2nd edition of the North East Olympic Games from Nov. 10th-16th in Shillong, Meghalaya.
The North East Olympic Games is an expression of solidarity by the north-eastern states of the country. Athletes congregate from the 8 north-eastern states to compete in various sporting disciplines. The aim of organising the Games is to encourage greater participation of youth in sporting activities in order to discover talent for higher level & international competitions at an early stage.
The event featured 18 different sports and this year included golf thanks to the efforts of the Meghalaya Golf Promotion Society and golf offered a total of 24 medals being played in Team as well as various amateur categories.
In the individual category, Amateur Snigdha Goswami was the big winner with three gold medals. She won the overall title, the ladies title and was part of the team that won the women’s title.
