The Gary Player-designed DLF Golf and Country Club will host the $2.25 million Hero Indian Open for the sixth consecutive time, from March 27-30

Continuing this week’s theme for Indian golf fans of events to watch out for on the 2025 calendar, is the prestigious annual US$2.25 million Hero Indian Open on the European (DP World) Tour, just a few weeks after the Asian Tour’s International Series (also at the acclaimed DLF Golf and Country Club in Gurugram), from March 27-30 this year. The tournament will serve as the second event in the European (DP World) Tour’s Asian Swing, part of the five Global Swings that comprise the initial phase of the 2025 DP World Tour global schedule.

For the sixth consecutive year, the Gary Player-designed Championship course at DLF G&CC will host the 61st edition of this iconic national open championship, owned by the Indian Golf Union. The venue has a storied history, from the then British Open champion Peter Thomson’s 3 victories in 1964, 1966, and 1976, to Ali Sher’s wins at Delhi Golf Club in 1991 and 1993, and to S.S.P. Chawrasia’s emphatic seven-shot victory at DLF in 2017.

Last year, young DLF product Veer Ahlawat gave Indian fans much to cheer about with an eagle on the 72nd hole that gave him the sole 2nd place and ₹1.38 crore in prize money, leading to his winning the 2024 PGTI Rankings and earning an exemption on the DP World Tour for 2025.

Ben Cowen, Chief Tournament and Operations Officer of the DP World Tour, lauded the venue and the longstanding partnerships that make the tournament possible:
“DLF Golf and Country Club is a world-class course that challenges our players year after year, and we are grateful for the venue’s unwavering support and hospitality. We deeply value our continued partnership with Hero MotoCorp and Dr. Pawan Munjal, whose exceptional support has been instrumental in elevating India’s national open to global acclaim. I also extend my gratitude to the Indian Golf Union (IGU) for their tireless efforts in nurturing the growth of golf in India. The Hero Indian Open remains a vital platform for advancing Indian golf, and we eagerly anticipate another thrilling edition in March 2025.”

As two months of unparalleled golf approaches in the capital – with the International Series featuring Bryson DeChambeau, and the DP World Tour’s Hero Indian Open – fans will be eager to see if this throws up more champions from India.
