The Indian IGU sponsored team featuring Avani Prashanth, Nishna Patel and Smriti Bhargav collectively shot 148-153-150-152 (31-over 603) to finish 34th at the World Amateur Team Championships (Espirito Santo Trophy) played at the extremely tough Le Golf National course in Paris. The best two out of three scores were considered in each of four rounds to determine the results.
On the individual front Prashanth shot respectable scores of 75-76-73-71 (9-over 295) to finish T44th. Nishna Patel shot 77-77-77-82 (27-over 313) to finish tied for 113th followed by Smriti Bhargav, who finished tied-122nd with rounds of 73-79-83-81 (30-over 316).
The Le Golf National Golf course has the world’s highest slope ( difficulty) rating of 155 and the second course, Golf De Saint-Nom-la-Breteche, is rated 137. As a comparison in India, DLF Golf Club has a slope rating from similar length tees of 132. The Paris courses are the toughest Golf Courses that the Espirito Santo Trophy has been played on since 2014. Le Golf National hosted the 2018 Ryder Cup and will host the 2024 Paris Olympics golf event.
