Indian golf icons Amandeep Johl and Gaurav Ghei have been chosen as captains for the upcoming event at Heritage Village Resort in Manesar

Indian pro golf legends Amandeep Johl, and Gaurav Ghei will serve as team captains for the inaugural Select Golf Invitational, which will take place on October 28-29 at Heritage Village Resort and Spa and Classic Golf Resort in Manesar, Gurgaon.

In a Ryder Cup style team matchplay format, the tournament will see players divided into two teams and pairs from each team will play an 18 hole match against pairs from the other team. Winning pairs earn a full point, while halved matches earn each team ½ point. The team with the maximum points will be declared the winner.

Both teams will have the services of experienced legends Johl and Ghei to motivate, strategize and plan pairings, while the tournament director is former Asian Games gold medallist Rishi Narain, who recently captained the 12 member Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation men’s team to a historic victory against Europe at The Bonallack Trophy, held in Spain.  Johl has 20 years of experience as a former player on the Asian and European Tours, and served as the national coach for both the Men’s and Women’s amateur teams. Ghei is a trailblazing three-time champion on the Asian Tour and the first Indian golfer to qualify for the Open Championship.

The tournament is the brainchild of Arjun Sharma, Chairman and Managing Director of Select Group, who is passionate about creating an unforgettable experience for the guests. An innovation of the event is the pre-event festivities at the Heritage Village Resort in Manesar where all participants will be checking in to bond together while a mini-golf course has been set up at the resort, plus swing analysis on golf simulators. The evening will end in a celebration with 300 guests who will be rocked by energetic singer Suryaveer. It’s certainly shaping up to be a can’t miss event.

After the game the next afternoon at Classic Golf Resort, players can unwind while watching the India-England World Cup game live on a giant screen being specially set up at the hospitality marquee. No details have been overlooked in ensuring the tournament becomes one of the most outstanding on the Indian golf calendar.
