Indians make an impact at US Kids Malaysia

Divjot Gupta secured a six-shot victory over Michael Lumy of Indonesia

Divjot Gupta emerged victorious in the Boys 8 and Under category at the US Kids Malaysian Championships on Thursday with rounds of 40-37-36 for a total 5-over over 27 holes, giving him a comfortable six-shot win over Michael Lumy from Indonesia. 

Meanwhile, another Indian contender, Ruslaan Alam Khan, finished third in the same category.

India continued to make a mark at the Glenmarie Golf and Country Club, in Kuala Lumpur, with Arshvant Srivastava securing second place in the Boys 13-14 category. Faltering on the final day to finish 2nd to Kang Geon of Korea. 

In the Boys 13-14 category, Sohang Har Kantor (79) was 7th, while Ved Sai Machiraju (81) claimed the 14th spot.

In the Boys 10 and under category, Jot Sarup Gupta (87) put up a commendable performance, finishing fourth. The category was ultimately won by Aoran Zhang of China, who shot an impressive 74 in the final round.

The three-day event carried World Amateur Golf Ranking points and granted Priority points for entries into US Kids World Championships in USA and European Championships later in the year.

A total of 106 junior golfers from 16 countries, including 37 players from Malaysia, competed in the three-day tournament.

The US Kids Malaysian Championships is the first regional Nationals under the US Kids umbrella in Asia this year. It will be followed by more such events in Thailand, Singapore and India.
