Akshay Bhatia is encashing on his Special Temporary Membership on the PGA Tour

21-year-old Indian American phenom Akshay Bhatia, who turned pro at 17 after being ranked the No. 1 Junior player in the USA, scored an amazing 9 birdies and an eagle on route to a 2nd round 9 under par 63 at the PGA Tour event in Dominican Republic again underlining his mercurial talent.

Bhatia, who was playing thanks to his recent 2nd place finish on the Korn Ferry Tour which earned him ‘Special Temporary Membership’ status on the PGA Tour,eventually finished tied 24th at the US$ 3.8mn event.

Last year, Bhatia won once on the Korn Ferry Tour but was forced to miss part of the year because of an injury. He had made the cut at the US Open at Torrey Pines in 2022.

Also in the field was 50-year-old Arjun Atwal, the only Indian to win on the PGA Tour. He shot 77-70 (+3) to miss the cut by three strokes.
