Megha Ganne is playing her third ANWA this week

18 year old Megha Ganne, the Indian origin golfer from New York, now playing her first year at Stanford University this season, will make her third appearance at the prestigious Augusta National Women’s Amateur (ANWA) from March 29-April 1. Ganne is currently ranked 13th in the women’s amateur golf rankings.

Unfortunately Avani Prashanth, who had a good showing at last year’s ANWA based on a special invitation, did not get invited back, despite her phenomenal performances in Asia, as special invitations from Augusta don’t go to the same player in two consecutive years.

In her last two appearances in the ANWA, Megha finished 64th (2021) and 43rd (2022) while last year Avani finished 23rd.

Ganne achieved star status in the US thanks to her stellar performance at the 2021 US Women’s Open where she was in the lead starting the final round and ended with a top 5 finish at the age of 16.

The ANWA tournament is played over 54 holes, with the first 36 holes at Champions Retreat Golf Club, followed by the final round for the players who survive the cut at the historic Augusta National Golf Club, a week prior to the The Masters.

The star studded field for the 2023 ANWA Championship includes:
1. Reigning U.S. Women’s Amateur Champion
2. Reigning Women’s Amateur Champion
3. Reigning Women’s Amateur Asia-Pacific Champion
4. Reigning R&A Girls Amateur Champion
5. Reigning U.S. Girls’ Junior Champion
6. Reigning Girls Junior PGA Champion
7. Past champions of the Augusta National Women’s Amateur within the last five years
8. The 30 highest ranked players from the United States of America based on the prior year’s (2022) final Women’s World Amateur Golf Ranking, not otherwise qualified
9. After qualifications 1-8 above, the 30 highest ranked players not otherwise qualified, as listed on the prior year’s (2022) final Women’s World Amateur Ranking
10. Players receiving special invitations from the Augusta National Women’s Amateur Committee
