Aditi Ashok, whose epic fourth place finish in Tokyo ignited interest for golf in the whole nation is set to receive a paltry Rs 3 lakhs cash award from the Government of Karnataka in a ceremony headed by The Governor, Chief Minister and Sports Minister KC Narayana Gowda to facilitate the three Olympians from the state.

The government’s cash award terms prescribe ₹5 crore for an Olympic gold, ₹3 crore for silver and ₹2 crore for bronze and in the absence of any written norm for a fourth finisher, Aditi’s cash award was decided by the state sports minister.

Aditi, who missed the ceremony due to her tournament in Sweden, where she finished tied-10,  is yet to comment on the award. Prior to this New Delhi based pharmaceutical company, Mankind Pharma has announced a cash prize of ₹ 11 lacs each to 20 players who narrowly missed medals at Tokyo Olympics and Aditi is one of the recipients too. This mostly includes members of the women’s hockey team who lost a heartbreak bronze medal match by one goal.

Tata Motors announced they would gift a Tata Altroz, its latest premium hatchback to the 4th place finishers from Tokyo as well.
