Delhi’s Krishnav Chopraa became only the 2nd Indian golfer in history to win a NCAA Division I US college golf title
Just weeks after Delhi Golf Club’s Shubham Jaglan, in his 4th year at University of Florida, became the first Indian ever to win an individual title in NCAA Division I Men’s College Golf, another Indian international amateur has followed the feat with one of his own. Delhi’s Krishnav Chopraa, a 2nd-year student at California State University, Long Beach, secured a dominant seven-shot victory at the 2025 NCAA Big West Men’s Golf Championship, held from April 27–29 at the famous La Quinta Country Club, California.
Krishnav, son of former international cricketer Nikhil Chopraa, posted rounds of 63-66-71 to finish at 16-under 200 for the prestigious season-ending college title, tying the all-time tournament scoring record.
Krishnav began with a career-best 9-under 63 and followed up with a bogey-free 66 in round two. Despite a shaky start in the final round—with three straight bogeys—he recovered quickly and posted five birdies over the next eight holes to regain control and secure a wire-to-wire win by a 7-stroke margin thanks to 13 birdies, two eagles, and an albatross across 54 holes, including two bogey-free rounds.
With the win, Krishnav earns an automatic berth in the highly prestigious and competitive 2025 NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Championships, which has seen champions like Tiger Woods, Bryson DeChambeau, and Jordan Spieth, among many other big names.
Chopraa will pick up valuable World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) points with this win which signals the arrival of Indian nationals on the super-competitive U.S. college golf scene.
