25-year-old Yuvraj Singh Sandhu, from Chandigarh, continued his emergence as a potential international star as he won his fourth title of the PGTI season, shooting 68-68-65-68 (19-under 269) to win by a shot over Ajeetesh Sandhu and Jamal Hossain, who finished joint runners-up at 18-under 270.

Yuvraj held his nerve on the closing holes under extreme pressure with a couple of tricky up-and-downs for pars, making putts of 10 to 15 feet on the 17th and 18th to close out the tournament.

With this win, the race for No 1 has heated up as the gap between Yuvraj and No 1 Ajeetesh Sandhu is only Rs 2 lacs. However Ajeetesh who plays mainly around Asia  may not be able to complete the required minimum number of events to feature on the money list at the end of the year. This probably leaves Yuvraj as the real No. 1.

Citing reasons for his improved performances under pressure, Yuvraj said “I’ve just been trying to maintain the same temperament and attitude from hole one till the end. That is something I worked on mentally. I feel there is much more to come from me.”

Ajeetesh had returned from an Asian Tour event  in Taipei to play in Chandigarh, and will next play in the Jeev Milkha Singh Invitational next weekl before heading out for two new Asian Tour events in the Middle-East -The  International Series Morocco and International Series Egypt.

Rashid Khan, who tragically lost in a playoff in Taipei, shot 69-74-68-67 (10-under 278) to finish tied for 10th in Chandigarh.

The PGTI  will remain in Chandigarh for its  ₹1.5 cr Jeev Milkha Singh Invitational presented by TAKE Solutions from Oct. 13-16.
