Select Group Invitational cracks the tournament code !

Arjun Sharma, the Chairman & MD of Select Group, hosted a very successful event

The inaugural Select Group Golf Invitational held on the weekend of October 28-29th at Heritage Village Resort, Manesar and Classic Golf Resort set a new benchmark for creating the right blend of bonding time, engagement with non-golfers and a friendly golf format with several innovations not seen before at such golf tournaments.

The event which was presented by Nuvama Private and EY and co sponsored by Mercedes-Benz – Silver-Arrows, Sotheby’s International Realty and Nexus Select opened with invitations on a Saturday afternoon to a high tea followed by a jazz sundowner. During this time, guests could register for the next day’s tournament, connect with their team-mates, access the resort’s challenging miniature putting course, warm up in golf simulators while being treated to superb jazz music.

This was followed up by a rocking evening powered by celebration partner Diageo with Hindi pop performer Suryaveer Hooja who kept 300 guests on their feet till well past midnight until the guests retired to their rooms at the Resort.

The next day, after a morning with warm up sessions personalised by celebrity fitness trainer Sachin Rana and well known physiotherapist Dr Divya Sharma,  the focus was equally on non golfers for the first time. The resort had partnered with Abha Bakaya of Ladies Who Lead to engage guests with a chat with nutritionist Dr. Vishaka Shivdasani and actor/entrepreneur and founder of House of Masaba, Masaba Gupta who showcased her fashion creations with a pop-up store, which turned into a sellout event.

As the action kicked off at the nearby Classic Golf Resort, the two team captains – Indian golf legends Amandeep Johl and Gaurav Ghei rallied their troops in the matchplay team event between Team Heritage Village Goa and Team Heritage Village Manesar. On the 5th hole players teamed up with professional golfers Gaurika Bishnoi and Seher Atwal for a chance to make more birdies.

As the evening rolled in, team Goa had forged a solid lead and clinched the match in Ryder Cup style with a scoreline of 15.5 to 10.5. Over 100 uniquely designed trophies were given away at the brisk award ceremony – a record.

The event set new benchmarks in many aspects of tournaments even as the host Arjun Sharma, Chairman and Managing Director Select Group said a word of thanks and announced the 2024 event would be even bigger and better.
