Two Indians invited to USA’s top Junior event


Guest of Honour, Swedish legend Annika Sorenstam, winner of 72 LPGA titles, met Avani at the welcome dinner.

16 year old Avani Prashanth, India’s top lady amateur, and 14 year old Kartik Singh both secured prestigious invitations to the Sage Valley Junior Invitational in South Carolina, USA, which sees the top 36 boys and girls from around the world receive all expense paid trips to the event.
This is Avani’s third time playing the tournament, where she has finished tied-6th in 2022 and 20th in 2023. For Kartik, it’s his first time.

Avani was lying 12th after 2 days while Kartik who faltered with a start of 79, bounced back with a 72 with one round remaining on Saturday. 

The boys and girls fields count among them commitments to more than 30 NCAA Division I men’s and women’s golf teams, which underlines the class of the field.

The tournament which began in 2011 started inviting women in 2022 and under the new format 36 boys and 24 girls are invited annually for the competition.
