The Indian government’s current policy not allocating vaccinations for Indians under age 18 and the UAE’s travel policy mandating 14 day quarantine for unvaccinated travelers, Indian junior golfers who may be selected to participate in Asia’s most prestigious amateur tournaments are facing uncertainty.

The Asia Pacific Men’s Amateur and Women’s Asia Pacific Amateur are scheduled from Nov 3-6th at Dubai Creek and Nov 10-13th at Abu Dhabi GC respectively.  The tournaments take on special significance as Indian amateurs have been starved of international competition for the past year and half and have lost chances to earn world ranking points while their competitors in America, Europe, South Africa and Australia etc have moved ahead with plenty of tournament opportunities.

We trust the Indian Golf Union can find a solution to this problem which might enable some of our talented youngsters to make the trip, gain invaluable feedback on their progress in the past two years while also earning ranking points. We will update their progress in this space.
