Mickelson, DeChambeau go head to head in Celebrity Charity Match

Charity Golf

To continue the immense popularity of the Match played last year featuring Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson which raised money for charities, this year the newly anointed PGA Championship winner Phil repeats with his partner American Football superstar & Super Bowl MVP Tom Brady vs US Open Champion De Chambeau and National Football League MVP Aaron Rodgers for an 18 hole match. The event to be played on July 6th in a made for TV event will be played in Big Sky Montana at a course that features a 777 yard par 5 – the 17th. However with the elevation at 7000 feet, the ball travels 10% further so expect DeChambeau to be over 400 yards on a regular basis !!

Such formats as well as the introduction of The Legends of Golf Senior Tour in Europe, just go to show the pull that non golf sports celebrities have on TV audiences.

The proceeds collected through the event will benefit the ‘Feeding America’ charity, the Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and other charitable beneficiaries.

There is already a lot of hype with De Chambeau and Mickelson joining the two Football stars in throwing challenges and jibes at their opponents.

Tom Brady was the first to start the quip and others followed.
