In a major reshuffle, J&K Government on Jan.30th transferred various officials and well known Lady Golf Superintendent and Golf Administrator, Nuzhat Gul has been appointed as the new Secretary J&K Sports Council.
Nuzhat was Secretary, Royal Springs Golf Course, Srinagar, holding additional responsibilities as the Managing Director-cum-CEO, Golf Development and Management Authority at Kashmir Golf Club.
This is the first time that a person with a sports background has been appointed as Secretary Sports Council in the Union Territory.
Nuzhat Gul is accredited with specialisation in turf and sports fields from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, USA.
Her contribution to the Golf and Tourism promotion has been immense. She has played a pivotal role in construction, maintenance and organising of tournaments and high-profile event management in the tourism sector.
Major Sports Associations of J&K have welcomed the step taken by the administration which ‘is going to infuse new life’ in sports infrastructure and activities in the UT. Gul is a member of the Golf Course Superintendent and Managers Association of India ( GCSMAI) .
