Saturday, June 5, saw  four great results from Indian ladies playing across the world. The players involved are – Diksha Dagar  and Tvesa Malik – both playing pro golf in Europe, Anika Varma attending High School in California & Sifat Sagoo – attending college at Purdue near Chicago. 

Tvesa’s 6th place in France

Tvesa Malik, 25, from DLF GC, finished 6th in France on the Ladies European Tour, shooting 75-67-70(1-under 212).

Her tied-6th finish is her best ever position at an LET event, matching her performance at the 2019 Hero Women’s Indian Open at her home course. 

Tvesa opened with an average round of 75, but followed it with the day’s best score of 67 in Rd 2 and then added a solid 70 on the final day at Evian Resort Golf Club in France to earn US$ 6,200 (₹4.5 lakhs)  and open up the possibility of gaining a second spot at the Tokyo Olympics alongside Aditi Ashok, who has already qualified.

This is Tvesa’s 2nd consecutive top 10 finish in Europe out of 3 events this season. 

Tvesa will join Astha Madan & Diksha Dagar in Sweden at next week’s US$ 1.2mn Scandinavian Mixed,  June 10th-13th.

Diksha’s 9th in Prague

20-year-old Diksha, who has been struggling with back problems recorded a solid 9th place finish shooting 74-73-70 (1-over 217) at the US$ 45,000 Czech Ladies Challenge on the LET Access Series, the second rung Ladies tour and seems to be warming up for the busy LET season ahead.

Anika finishes 5th in California

16-year-old former Noida girl, Anika Varma continues to impress with a 5th place finish at the California Women’s Championship at Ojai Valley Inn from June 2-4  where she shot 67-72-74 (Even-Par, 213).

Previously, Anika made the pre-quarters at the U.S. Women’s Amateur Four Ball in Texas and she will next play the Southwestern Amateur at Desert Mountain, Arizona from June 16-19.

Sifat finishes runner-up in New York

Sifat Sagoo

20-year-old Sifat Sagoo, a sophomore at Purdue University, near Chicago,  had another stellar week at the 8th Women’s Porter Cup played out at Niagara Falls CC in New York from June 2-4.

Sifat posted rounds of 73-71-71 (1-under 215) to finish tied-2nd, three shots behind the eventual winner.
