Hiroshi Tai is the first Asian winner of NCAA collegiate championship

22-year-old Hiroshi Tai, from Singapore made history by becoming the first Asian golfer ever to win the prestigious 127 year old NCAA collegiate championship individual title in USA last week. 

Tai, who has completed his compulsory two year military service for Singapore is now a second year student at Georgia Tech, shot 3-under 285 for a one-shot win in California..

In a remarkable achievement, Tai clinched victory in only his third collegiate tournament, securing his ticket as the first Singaporean golfer ever at the 2025 Masters at Augusta National and this year’s US Open. 

Introduced to the sport at the tender age of four during a family outing to the Bukit range at Singapore Island Country Club, Tai’s journey to this triumph began early. His win jumped him to 35th in the World Amateur golf rankings.
