A week ago, the world was shocked whenTiger met a horrible accident and survived multiple severe injuries while returning from GOLFTV’s celebrity shoot in Los Angeles, California. The doctors and the world called his escape miraculous, putting a question mark on his return to the professional tours, where he has dominated for over two decades and is revered and respected as perhaps the all-time greatest of the sport.

Soon after his operation, Tiger posted an update on his social media accounts, updating his condition, while mentioning Dr Anish Mahajan, MD, Chief Medical Officer & CEO at Harbor-UCLA Medical Centre in California.

Dr Anish Mahajan, who traces his roots to Jalgaon in Maharashtra, headed the team of doctors who successfully operated on Tiger Woods for hours.
As CMO, Mahajan directly supervises the chairs of all 12 clinical departments and oversees the management, quality, and delivery of all medical services. He also serves as associate dean of the UCLA-David Geffen School of Medicine.
A graduate of Brown Medical School, Mahajan has over 15 years of experience in medicine, having served in a variety of roles, including a stint with the Obama-Biden administration. Between 2009 and 2010, Mahajan served as a White House Fellow in the Office of Management and Budget, where he worked on the formation of the Affordable Care Act and the President’s Global Health Initiative.

To show support, the first one to come forward was St. Andrews Links, where an artist designed a message on sand for Tiger Woods, saying “Thoughts and Prayers”.

Later on Saturday, Feb. 27th, players at the WGC-Workday Championship and Annika Sorenstam, playing her first LPGA event in over 13-years, announced to wear Tiger’s usual Sunday Red & Black combination to show support the man who they admire and in response to it, Tiger tweeted – “It is hard to explain how touching today was when I turned on the tv and saw all the red shirts. To every golfer and every fan, you are truly helping me get through this tough time.”

The road to recovery surely looks long for Tiger and the golfing world is going to miss him with TV viewership expected to fall due to his absence.
