Following on from their respective performances in the IGU All India Senior Tournament that was held on July 13 at Jaypee Greens Golf & Spa Resort, Greater Noida the senior amateur team comprising current champion Rishi Narain, former winners Amit Luthra and Vijay Kumar Bhadana, and 1983 Cricket World Cup winning captain Kapil Dev represented India at the 2018 Asia-Pacific Senior Amateur Championship.

Joining them were Kanwaljit Singh Cheema and Gian Chand Sharma. The tournament was held at Tom Watson Golf Club, Miyazaki, Japan from October 17-19 and the four best scores were considered. With a three-day total of 935, the Indian contingent finished fifth behind Japan (891), New Zealand (892), Australia (894) and Korea (901).

Asia Pacific Golf Federation (APGC) and Indian Golf Union (IGU) later announced that the 2019 Asia-Pacific Senior Amateur Championship will be held in India. Given home advantage, it promises to offer the hosts a great chance to compete for the title. The venue will be decided in due course.

India awaits South Africa Test

The third annual Fellowship Cup—a bilateral golf tournament between India and South Africa—will be held at Jaypee Greens Golf & Spa Resort, Greater Noida from November 26-30. The 2018 edition will feature Senior and Mid Amateur competitions. The home teams have been selected based on performances at the All India Championships conducted by IGU in August earlier this year. Rishi Narain, Kapil Dev, Vijay Kumar Bhadana and Kulvinder Singh will be part of the Senior team while Simarjeet Singh, H. S. Kang, Gagan Verma, and Lakhan Singh will comprise Mid Amateurs.
