Hero MotoCorp, sponsor for over a decade of the Euro $2 million Hero Indian Open on the European Tour has just announced it will take over the title sponsorship of the prestigious Dubai Desert Classic, one of the leading events on the Tour.

After also sponsoring the special event in Abu Dhabi this week – the Ryder Cup style Hero Cup, its sponsorship tally on the European Tour is up to three tournaments.

The Hero Cup is scheduled for Jan. 13-15, followed by Hero Dubai Desert Classic from Jan. 26-29.

Dr Pawan Munjal, chairman & CEO, Hero MotoCorp, said: “We continue to have a long-term partnership with the DP World Tour; and the Hero Dubai Desert Classic is an extension of this engagement.

“We are delighted to be associated with this iconic event and will now be supporting two much-awaited marquee tournaments in the Middle East – the Hero Cup and the Hero Dubai Desert Classic – as part of the traditional Desert Swing.

“It surely promises to be an exciting start to the season, and we look forward to seeing world-class golf on display.”

The Dubai Desert Classic was title sponsored by Omega for over a decade, and last year moved to Slync.io as title sponsor. The event has confirmed Rory Mcilroy as star attraction again and is sure to attract global media attention. Along with the high profile Tiger Woods’ Hero World Challenge in Bahamas played in early December, this will give Hero four world class events in the space of three months – catapulting the Indian company into the big league of golf sponsors worldwide.
