Senior AVT Champions Tour comes to Bengaluru

After a successful start in Delhi,  the second season of the AVT Champions Tour moves to the Garden city, Bengaluru at Eagleton – The Golf Village from Jan. 5th-7th, 2021.

The AVT Champions Tour, supported by the Ministry of Tourism under its ‘Incredible India’ campaign is open to amateur golfers over age 50,  last played at Eagleton in June 2019 when former India International, David D’Souza of Bangalore claimed the title with a  massive seven-stroke win ahead of local veteran G.S. Ravi. Both have confirmed their participation this time around. Players from Delhi, Pune, Chennai, Hyderabad, Mysore will join the local Bangalore contingent in the 100 player field.

The 2020 AVT Champions Tour season,   originally scheduled to start in March 2020,  was postponed due to ongoing global pandemic and returned last month at Classic Golf Resort, Gurgaon  with a field of 100 entries. The 36-hole gross stroke play event saw Ajai Sirohi, a member of the 2019 Indian national senior squad, pipping Kapil Dev and Arvind Khanna on the 36th hole for the overall honours.

The AVT Champions Tour, started by well-known Chennai based industrialist and golf enthusiast Dilip Thomas, Managing Director, AVT Group, was conceptualised to give a competitive platform for golfers aged 50 and above across India and since then has staged five tournaments till date.
