Lavanya at Japan Women’s Amateur

Lavanya Jadon was the lone Indian invited for the tournament in Japan

16 year old Lavanya Jadon, of Delhi, an individual entry from India at the 64th Japan Women’s Amateur Championship at the 6409 yard , par 72, Akita Country Club shot 77 and 74 to miss the cut by 2 strokes. Lavanya is currently ranked 5th among Indian lady amateurs and represented the country in the prestigious Women’s Amateur Asia Pacific ( WAAP) and won a silver at the National Games.  

With just one practice round under her belt , having travelled at her own expense, to altogether different playing conditions, it would have been tough for Lavanya to adjust to local conditions. She ended up placing 79th  of the 150 participants after 36 holes. 

Lavanya, who attends Summerfield School & trains at the  DLF Golf Academy program of excellence in Gurgaon, will be in action this week at the Hero WGAI pro tournament at Prestige Golfshire Club in Bangalore. 

Her younger sister Riya is also one of the top players on the IGU Junior circuit.
